QUESTIONS??

  1. Is this dangerous? Would it accidentally spark a fire in your bag? Could it potentially burn your fingers?

  2. Why not just make a lock system to a lighter?

  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the knife being the steel already exists and the flint cannot be so small. Flint is normally bigger, at least 1/2 a finger length. And your point where you said that camping knifes are big, they are supposed to be big as camping knifes are meant for more heavy tasks. If the knife were to be the length you said, then it would not be a camping knife but instead would be equivalent to swiss knifes which are used for more minor tasks. And finally, other then uniform groups, who else still uses flint and steel.

  5. Flint & Steel are not exactly called flint and steel nowadays, they are called Firesteel, and they are made of carbon steel, and they are used as outdoor firestarters, one common examples are manufactured by a brand Swedish FireSteel. These firestarters are a mix of carbon-steel and flint, commonly struck together or another piece of steel to produce a spark, and that's why they are called FIRESTARTERS, not a FLAME GENERATOR, and for all fires to exist, you just need ember and tinder, or the fire will just burn out eventually. As I have said during the presentation, it will require a charcloth which is usually kept in a tinderbox along with other tinder to remain the fire to survive. And hence like I have said before, it is just a FIRESTARTER not a FLAME GENERATOR like a lighter, with fuel in it.

  6. I think it is easier as with the flint and steel the sparks produced will fall downwards and will be safer unlike the lighter which you have to burn something fully then place it together with the " fuels ".

  7. Those normal lighters doesn't really use a fire hot enough, and can easily die out, due to the temperature of the fire. And those lighters that are used for camping and outdoors like a Zippo, are usually more expensive than the conventional lighters and even this knife itself. Even though they can produce hot fires, those windproof and stormproof ones cost way more, and their temperature is usually about the same or less than the flames that can be produced this way.
